Kochi, Jan 13: The BJP on Sunday said the results of the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly polls have shown the party’s public acceptance has gone up and no one could stop it from coming back to power at the Centre in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.
Inaugurating the executive council meeting of the party’s Kerala unit here on Sunday, party president Rajnath Singh said the “public acceptance of the party has gone up” and “no one can stop it from coming to power at the Centre”.
“Only BJP can save the country and make India a strong nation in the world,” he said. Singh emphasised the importance of discipline in the party and called upon the workers to work unitedly to make the party strong.
He alleged that both Congress and the Left parties were resorting to appeasement of minorities to increase their vote bank. The appeasement policy of the Centre has led to several problems in the country, he said. BJP’s ideology was “justice to all, appeasement of none”, Singh said, adding his party will never accept the Centre’s “policy of minority appeasement”.
Lauding the six-year rule of NDA government during 1998- 2004, Singh said the government was able to control the price rise of essential commodities. The Congress-led UPA government has however, miserably failed to contain the spiraling prices of commodities, he said.
The economy became strong during the NDA rule and international economists also had acknowledged it, he said. The then US president Bill Clinton, after his five-day visit to India had said “what I have seen during my tour, the functioning of the government and the ministers, I am sure India will become one among the developed countries by 2020,” Singh said.
