New Delhi, July 4: : Government as well as the Congress on Friday remained unfazed despite the Left parties threatening to withdraw support over the nuclear deal issue and the BJP demanding a vote of confidence in such an eventuality.

"Government has the numbers. We are ready to prove it in the Lok Sabha whenever we are called upon to do so," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi told reporters.

AICC Media Department Chairman M Veerappa Moily, speaking separately, also expressed confidence about the Government having the numbers to prove the majority.

At the same time, he maintained as hypothetical the need to have a trust vote and said that the Congress-led coalition was still enjoying the support of the Left parties.

He alleged that the BJP's demand showed the party's ‘desperation and greed for power’.

The Parliamentary Affairs Minister indicated that the schedule for the next session of Parliament will be decided in a day or two and dismissed as speculation reports that there would be no Winter Session.

The BJP had earlier in the day said that it was ‘imperative’ of the Government to seek a vote of confidence in the event of the Left withdrawing its support.
