Nasik, Jan 29: With the government succumbing to the pressures of WTO and MNCs, farmers are not getting remunerative prices for their agricultural produces, and are therefore, committing suicides, alleged West Bengal chief minister Buddhdev Bhattacharjee .
The WTO is urging the Centre to adopt its policies, wherein farmers in “our country are not getting subsidy or grants like in developing countries,” Buddhdev said during a public meeting here on the occasion of 31st national convention of All India Kisan Sabha.
“Even, the US is trying to intervene in our political and economic policies. Left parties are telling the government not to support them,” he said.
