



: The Delhi media was in full attendance at a STAR-Balaji press conference on Monday but returned disappointed. Ekta Kapoor, the person behind all those K soaps, was to show up. As STAR had only last week picked up a stake in Balaji Telefilms, she was obviously the main draw. But, STAR executives informed the media that Ekta didn’t turn up. “She’s not well,” was the official answer. As a result, the questions meant for Ms Kapoor were instead directed at the STAR trio present at the function, who were clearly at a complete loss for words.
Barkis Is Willing
The Academic Found-ation has published a 27 volume tome on Indian agriculture for the agriculture ministry. Even before the UPA government came to power, Congress leader Manmohan Singh had agreed to release this set of books. Not wanting to offend the agriculture minister the publisher duly presented the entire set to Sharad Pawar and informed him of the plans to get it released by Dr Singh. Only to retreat red-faced when Mr Pawar promptly offered to release the books himself.
Against Delivery
Dr Manmohan Singh had apparently decided against announcing new development schemes in his Independence-day speech. However the speech finally delivered seems to have been re-written in the car ride to the Red Fort. Result? The PIB issued the speech based on the penultimate version and the PM’s MoS Prithviraj Chavan discovered the final changes through a news anchor in a television studio.
