Hyderabad, May 5 : The Rs 1,300 crore Amara Raja group is entering fruit beverage market in the country. The group company, Galla Foods, has launched its first product, 'Galla Thick Mango' nectar.
Speaking to media, after launching the product in Hyderabad, Amara Raja group chairman Ramachandra N Galla said, the company is planning to launch the mango nectar in towns covering Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka in the current year.
The company is also planning to introduce multiple mango variants and nectars of tropical fruits available in the state. "We are working on some other fruits. We will soon introduce some of them in the current year itself," Galla said.
The company is already engaged in the fruit pulp processing business for the last three years, registering a turnover of about Rs 40 crore in 2007-08 and targeting Rs 75 crore in 2008-09.
The company had set up the fruit processing and bottling plant on a 100 acre land in Chittoor distritct, with an investment of Rs 57.5 crore, including the doubling the capacity of pulp production unit to 20 tonnes per hour with an investment of Rs 40 crore, said Jayadev Galla, managing director of Amara Raja and director of Galla Foods.
The company has obtained quality certifications including, HACCP by TUV, ISO 9001:2000 by TUV, Kosher by Star-K, USA, SGF and Halal.
