New Delhi, Sep 13: The GSM cellular subscriber base in the country has touched 147.7 million-mark with addition of 5.9 million subscribers in August, against 5.5 million mobile phone users in the previous month, a growth of 4.20%. According to latest data released by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) on Thursday, Bharti Airtel remains the market leader with a market share of 31.70%, followed by Vodafone Essar (23.10%), BSNL (20.11%), Idea (12.10%), Aircel (5.16%), Spice (2.30%), MTNL (1.85%) and BPL (0.75%). Bharti Airtel added 2.05 million users in August, taking its subscriber base to 46.81 million, against 44.76 million at the end of Jtal subscriber base to 34.12 million. Addition of 8.66 lakh users helped Idea’s subscribers base touch 17.87 million.
