



Mumbai: The financial bids for the procurement of 126 Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) will take place by the end of the next year, minister of state for defence, M Mangapati Pallam Raju, said at the Nasscom Global Engineering summit 2009. “The field trials have began for the six vendors and by the end of the year we will be asking for financial bids from the shortlisted ones,” said Raju.
Of the Rs 42,000-crore ($10 billion approx) procurement spend, about $1-1.5 billion is expected to be spent on IT and engineering services, say industry veterans. BVR Mohan Reddy, founder chairman, MD & CEO, Infotech Enterprises, said: “We expect about $1-1.5 billion of this amount to be in the IT services and engineering services space. But we need to wait and watch how it works out for the IT industry.”
