Ranchi, January 1:: Fifteen Naxalite training camps were destroyed by police during an encounter with Maoists near Parasnath Hills in Girdih district, a senior police officer said on Tuesday.
"The tents were being used as training camps by Maoists. This is one of the major accomplishments of police," Inspector-General of Police (Bokaro range) B Pradhan said.
About 10 can and clamour bombs were recovered.
He said about 250 Naxalites exchanged fire with security forces.
The combing operation was still continuing.
