New Delhi, Nov 9: Concerned over more and more corporates resorting to job cuts to deal with difficult economic environment, commerce and industry minister Kamal Nath has asked India Inc not to resort to boost profits be firing staff.

Also, Nath said the government will have to pump in Rs 25,000 crore in the next six months without creating adverse impact on the fiscal deficit.

Within a week of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh speaking his mind to the industry captains, Nath said, “Employees on the roll must be retained.”

Undaunted by the projections of lower economic growth resulting from a slowdown in major economies of the world, Nath said India would achieve GDP expansion by over 7.5%. “We are on track to achieve 7.5% and excess of 7.5% this year.” Chairman of Prime Minister’s economic advisory committee Suresh Tendulkar...
