: beauty training programme. It continues to provide students the means to earn a livelihood and be financially independent. It also provides the opportunity for career advancement and success. Shamute students may be physically challenged by fate, but have proved themselves through their dedication to work. Having employed many of them in the Shahnaz Herbal clinics, I can reiterate that they have the ability to be totally focused on the work at hand and putting in their best.

Some of these students have now started their own salons. We believe that the future can be very bright for them. Perhaps, this future generation will tell the story of Shamute and carry the glorious beacon forward. Our success with Shamute has motivated us to start Shasight, which provides beauty training for the blind.

The syllabus at Shamute includes theoretical knowledge, along with the learning of practical skills like facial, head and body massages and other normal salon services. Now we are also training them in spa treatments. At the end of the training, the students receive a diploma, opening important career avenues for them. Thus, they can find a direction and purpose in their silent world.The beauty business has tremendous growth potential and there is a corresponding demand for trained personnel.
