Kingfisher Airlines chief Vijay Mallya has been meeting the Director General of Foreign Trade Anup Pujari for permission to import ATF directly, and Pujari has been giving him a patient hearing even though he has his personal horror stories of the airline. Some months ago, Pujari booked a return flight on Kingfisher Red, Mallya’s budget airline, and paid for a meal for both segments. On the flight, however, he found there was no meal. The air-hostess apologised profusely and Pujari decided not to push things after he got an assurance that when he returned by the evening flight, he’d get the meal he’d paid for. As luck would have it, he didn’t get a meal on the return flight either!
