



: Ranbaxy recalls drugs from US market
Ranbaxy Laboratories has recalled from the US market a batch of 4,348 cartons of Sotret Isotretinoin capsules used in treating skin infections. According to the information available on US health regulator Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) website, Ranbaxy, through its US-based subsidiary Ranbaxy Laboratories, has issued a 'nation-wide class III recall' for a batch of Sotret Isotretinoin capsules of 40 mg strength. However, a class III recall signifies that the use of the product is not likely to be harmful.
Shree Renuka profit up
Shree Renuka Sugars on Friday reported nearly a three-fold jump in consolidated profit at Rs 101.2 crore for the quarter ended September 30. The consolidated total income rose to Rs 1,087.6 crore during the quarter under review from Rs 635 crore during the year-ago period, the compant said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
HDFC Life IPO plan
Private sector insurer HDFC Standard Life on Friday said it plans to come with an initial public offer in the next fiscal. “We plan to come with an IPO in 2010-11. The board has not yet set a specific deadline. But that’s what we are looking at,” executive director and principal officer Paresh Shreesh Parasnis told reporters. However, he said, the IPO would also depend on the Insurance Law Amendment Bill.
AI senior citizen offer
In a bid to woo more customers to its first and executive classes on international routes, Air India, has offered a 20% discount to senior citizens. Senior citizens (65-years and above), are now eligible for a 20% discount for travel in first and executive classes on international flights, an Air India press release said on Friday.
