Thiruvananthapuram, May 19 : Indian coast is terrorism-porus and no state is completely free from danger, according to Union defence minister AK Antony. No single Indian state can afford to go easy on its security, he added.
The incidence of terrorists worming their way into India through coastal belt is growing, the minister said. Communal harmony is a soft target. Their gameplan is to upset the communal harmony in the states and create havoc in civic life. Antony said that the activities of outfits like LTTE are under continuous survellience.
Information pooling through Central intelligence agencies will be strengthened. State governments have been advised to be ear on ground with their information agencies, the minister said.
Earlier, in a function at Malappuram, Antony had said that although India was growing into an economic and military powerhouse, the country was in another kind of crisis. Through series of violent attacks and bomb blasts, divisive forces are trying to tear asunder the country's communal fabric. To check the success of this strategy, he sought that Indian National Congress should be strengthened.
