: EMC Corp to expand its Academic Alliance Programme

It infrastructure solutions company EMC India plans to expand its vendor-neural, storage technology open curriculum under the EMC Academic Alliance Programme. EMC has so far partnered with 100 educational institutions in India to offer courses in digital data security and storing. “Our intention is to share ideas and global best practices with academic institutions in India in what we call an emerging technology domain of mutualisation, cloud computing, and Web 2.0,” Manoj Chugh, president, India & Saarc, EMC Corporation, told FE in a recent interaction. He added: “The EAA is geared to enhance data security, as the flow of information in the Web increases exponentially by each passing year.”

IIM-A to offer ‘Learn what is not taught’ course

Indian Institute of Management- Ahmedabad (IIM-A) will offer its students a unique elective course ‘Learning what is not taught’. The course, offered to a batch of 45-50 students of PGPX (post-graduate programme for executives) and PGP (post-graduate programme) students during their final term, is aimed to bring corporate leaders to the institute’s classrooms. The course will have lead instructors such as the executive director of Tata Sons, Rallis India chairman and Tata Chemicals vice-chairman.

Mphasis & IIM-B partner to set up office of disability services

The Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore (IIM-B) and leading IT solutions provider Mphasis have inked a partnership to open an office of disability services (ODS) to cater to the academic needs of students and staff with disabilities at the B-school. The ODS will make an assessment of all incoming students with disabilities, identify what support the institute needs to provide them and then liaise with respective departments within IIM-B to give support to the students.

IndiaCan to open 100 vocational training centres in two months

Education & training provider IndiaCan, a joint venture between Educomp and Pearson, plans to open 100 vocational training centres across India in the next two months. The company also plans to create a national network of more than 600 vocational training centres in the near future. The proposed vocational centres will focus on training across segments such as finance, retail, IT and insurance.
