Hyderabad, Apr 4 : Big Flicks, part of Reliance Entertainment Ltd and claimed to be the largest online and offline movie rental services offering access to 15,000 titles in 12 languages, is planning to have 30 stores across 10 cities by 2008-09. The store tally is expected to touch 500-odd stores by the end of this fiscal spread across 30 cities. Besides, the Reliance World outlet of the group is expected to have over 100-odd stores in shop-in-shop format across 10 cities.
Launching its video rental stores in Hyderabad, Kamal Gianchandani, COO, Big Flicks said that the home entertainment segment in the country is growing rapidly. ‘’With this venture, our vision is to build a scalable business model that brings entertainment to all kinds of consumers and homes through a multi-channel distribution platform across broadband, internet and home delivery and retail infrastructure,’’ he said. The RADA group has committed about $100 million investment for three years towards this project.
In addition, the company plans to make video-on-demand division has introduced innovative, convenient and cost-effective entertainment solutions to make cinema, television and music accessible to the overseas NRI population besides offering download to rent and subscription services in its portfolio of operations.
The company is looking at the south market in a big way. While it has rolled its services in Bangalore, Delhi, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Pune and Mumbai, Indore, Kolkatt, Chennai and Ahmedabad will be soon be joining the list, he added.
