Kolkata, May 31: Bayern Munich goalie Oliver Kahn came, charmed the crowds and went --– without getting a chance to display his prowess under the bar as they beat Mohun Bagan 3-0.

But Bengal Peerless, the company that brought Bayern Munich and Kahn for the exhibition match on May 27, is unhappy with the German team for what it claims is a string of broken promises.

"The Bayern team was requested to inaugurate the Souvenir Shop of Mohun Bagan on May 27, but they refused to go as it was not on their schedule," said Kumar Shankar Bagchi, managing director of Bengal Peerless.

"I admit it was not on the schedule," said Bagchi. "But the Bayern players went to an Adidas outlet and also enjoyed a steamer ride organised by Lufthansa even though neither event was on the schedule."

He said Bayern Munich had shown disrespect to Mohun Bagan, a national club that is 100 years old.

However, despite its not-too-happy experience, Bengal Peerless will continue with plans to host a world-renowned club every year.

Next year, it could bring either Real Madrid or Manchester United for a match at a location that is yet to be decided.

However, the foreign team will be pitted against the Indian national squad and not any particular club.
