New Delhi, November 2: State-run telecom major BSNL said it is planning to offer mobile telephony services on CDMA platform, after the government's approval to the use of dual technology by a single operator with the same license.

"We are in the process of discussions for offering CDMA mobile services across the country... a decision would be taken in the next one month," BSNL Chairman and Managing Director Kuldeep Goyal told reporters.

The government had recently announced new norms for telecom sector, which includes use of dual technology and enhanced subscriber base for spectrum allocation.

Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications has also got the permission for starting GSM operations, for which the company is awaiting spectrum.

BSNL already provides fixed wireless and limited mobility service on CDMA platform under the name 'Tarang'.

Asked about the investment in offering CDMA mobile services, Goyal refused to comment saying: "These details have still to be worked out."

The company has over 30 million mobile subscribers on its network and it operates across the country, except in Delhi and Mumbai.

Goyal said the company is also open to sharing its passive infrastructure with private operators. It has already invited an Expression of Interest from the tower Companies and other interested parties for infrastructure sharing.
