Audi to begin roadside assistance programme

Chandigarh, Apr 27: Germany-based luxury car manufacturers Audi is aiming at providing best treatment to its customers in India. The company which spends significant amount on training its employees is all set to launch 24 hour road-side assistance programme shortly in the country.

Talking to FE, Audi India managing director Benoit Tiers said, “Audi is in the process to design a comprehensive series of emergency roadside and related services that can be given to consumers 24 hours across the country. The programme will have a team of qualified customer service professionals with a comprehensive nationwide to wing network to bring you world-class assistance when the consumers need it most.”

In January-February-2008 the car market recorded growth of 9% but premium segment grew at 176% in just two months. Stating these bullish growth figures of luxury segment, Tiers is hoping to strengthen its base in India. The company which sold 350 units in the country in 2007 is now aiming at selling 1,200 units by the end of this year. Keeping India in its priority list Audi has begun the race to increase its dealership network.

Launching its exclusive Audi showroom in Chandigarh, the MD informed that soon other dealerships will be launched in Ludhiana, Chennai, Ahemdabad, Kochin, Kolkatta taking the number to 12 dealerships in the country.

The luxury car maker is also gearing up to introduce Audi A4 in the country in July. The company has assembling plant in Aurangabad also begin assembly of its A4 model as it seeks a bigger share of the fast-growing market. The A6 sedan is already being assembled in the plant.

Talking about investments in the country the MD said, “We have already invested 20 million euros in setting up the plant here. Ten million euros will be incurred in 2008-09 while introducing A4 here.”

Audi's Chandigarh showroom which is spread over 13,500 square feet has the capacity to display seven cars including model range of Audi A8, A6, A4, Q7, and Audi TT. To market its product the company will also hold many road shows including at Patiala, Jalandhar, Amritsar.
