Oil Minister Murli Deora said on Friday that any rise in retail prices of petrol and diesel would be minimal, and the top official in his ministry said ministers would meet again on Saturday to discuss the increase.

A ministerial meeting on Thursday, widely expected to recommend India's first price hike in more than 18 months, ended without a decision.

Indian oil firms are forced to sell fuel at discounted rates and have been hit by a surge in global crude prices.
