New Delhi, Jun 24: The Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) is finally entering the news media sector. According to sources, the group is slated to launch a news portal using the Big Internet brand name anytime soon.
No subscription will be needed to access the portal for which the company has already started hiring staff. The portal will be under the aegis of Reliance Entertainment, to be eventually renamed Big Entertainment.
ADAG’s Internet Data Centre at the Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City (DAKC) in Navi Mumbai will host the portal. The company has adequate bandwidth availability and hosts a number of big web sites. At present, the group runs its FM radio business using the Big FM brand name.
When contacted, a company spokesperson declined to comment. But sources said the news portal would be in sync with the group’s telecom and entertainment businesses as it would develop its own content that would be offered to the other two businesses.
