Advance Micro Devices (AMD), an US-based global provider of processing solutions in computing, graphics and consumer electronics markets, inaugurated its second research and design facility.
AMD President & Chief Operating Officer Dirk Meyer, who launched the facility, said India's talented pool of engineering resources makes it one of the most important technology centres in the world.
The Hyderabad's R&D facility is AMD's fourth in India.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-President and Managing Director of the Hyderabad Research and Development Center Dasaradha Gude said the firm's first city unit has been working on leading edge technology over the last four years.
AMD's Center of Excellence for Audio Technology has designed multimedia products for leading companies in consumer electronics, including mobile phones, game consoles, LCD panel and TV tuner cards, he said.
The centre has also made significant contributions to AMD's latest graphics and computing processors, Gude added.
