7/11: HC allows defence to examine cops
The IM operatives had allegedly claimed responsibility of almost all major bomb blasts across the country since 2005.
The order given by Justice A M Thipsay allowed the defence lawyers to summon the concerned DCPs before the trial court.
Earlier a special MCOCA Court had turned down their plea seeking examination of DCPs and production of the Call Data Records used against them by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
Defence lawyers Yug Chaudhry and Khan Abdul Wahad told the court that their clients were illegally detained much before their arrest was recorded and that their mobile phones were in use even after that.
The state government, however, did not seek a stay on the court’s order.
Curfew relaxed for 15 hrs in Sirsa
With the district administration relaxing curfew for 15 hours — from 6 am to 9 pm — on Monday, life was slowly coming back to normal in Sirsa city.
It was the first relaxation after a continuous 30-hour curfew, clamped after supporters of Dera Sacha Sauda and Sikhs clashed last Saturday. The violence on November 24 had left 12 people injured and six vehicles badly damaged near Balmiki Chowk. The curfew, however, will continue from 9 pm on Monday till 6 am the next day.
