The Supreme Court today issued notices to the central government and Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio Infocomm on a petition alleging foul play in the auction of 4G spectrum.

A bench led by Justice H L Dattu sought responses from them on a plea by NGO Centre for PIL, which claimed the government auctioned it at a much lower price and with a vested notice to benefit Reliance.

It further alleged that 4G was auctioned primarily for data usage but the government allowed the firm to use the spectrum also for voice transmission.
