The Ghaziabad Police have arrested four members of a gang that specialised in leaking question papers for competitive exams for government services across the country. Police said the ringleader of the gang was an income tax inspector posted in Gujarat.
The police identified the four accused as Amit Mehra, Raman, Kapil and Vikas Arya. Mehra, the gang leader, was originally from Dilshad Garden, but was living in Baroda in Gujarat where he was employed. “Mehra specialised in leaking competitive exam papers. He operated in different states, including UP, Bihar, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, and has been operating unscathed for years,” said Ranvijay Singh, deputy superintendent of police, Ghaziabad.
Police said they received a tip off that the gang would attempt to try and leak the question paper for the entrance examination for the UP Police Constabulary taking place in Ghaziabad. A team from the Link Road police station and the Ghaziabad special task force was assembled to arrest them. “We arrested them before they could leak any papers. We found them with various electronic gadgets and the question papers, which were all wrong,” said Singh.
Police said they are investigating the gang’s links with other factions in different states where they operated to investigate how they managed to get the question papers.
