New Delhi: Twenty-nine coal projects meant for power generation are awaiting environmental clearance, the Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.
‘‘Coal India has requested the environment ministry to expedite the process of environment clearance,’’ Jairam Ramesh, said in a written reply.
The minister said, the number of coal projects pending environment clearance is 29, of which four projects have been recommended for environmental clearance and the remaining 25 projects, clarification sought by the expert appraisal committee are awaited. He further said the project proponents have been advised to prepare environmental impact assessment report along with environmental management plans to address the green issues.
