In anticipation of an additional 50,000 commuters using the DND Flyway starting December 15, when one carriageway of Kalindi Kunj bridge will close for repairs, the operator is planning to open two extra silver card lanes.

The lanes will be for the exclusive use by commuters who pay in advance for a 10-day pass.

The Kalindi Kunj bridge will be closed as Delhi and Noida traffic police, in collaborating with the Noida Irrigation Department, take on maintenance of the structure. One carriageway of the bridge will be closed between December 15 and January 15, and the other will remain shut from January 15 to February 15.

An official of Noida Toll Bridge Company Limited, the concessionaire for the Flyway, said, “According to the traffic plan issued by police, commuters are advised to use the DND for the two months. Therefore, we are expecting additional traffic of close to 50,000 vehicles per day. To ease congestion, we have made space for two silver card lanes. We have discounts on the silver lanes passes as well. While two-wheeler users have to pay Rs 100 for 10 passes, car users have to pay Rs 250 for 10 passes. Further, for the issuance of silver lane tags, four extra kiosks have been set up — two in Mayur Vihar, two on DND Flyway. Extra personnel will also be deployed for these two months.”

A senior officer of the Noida police said, “Some level of congestion is inevitable. We are encouraging people to use silver lanes and have asked RWAs to spread the word. Commuters are advised to use Akshardham and DND Flyway.”

Meanwhile, despite the BKU calling off its dharna at the DND toll plaza on Friday, representatives of the farmers’ union met officials of the toll company, local administration and police.

The administration has reportedly agreed to give the BKU a profit and loss account for the flyway by December 12.

Rakesh Yadav, a member of BKU group that met the officials, said: “Our main purpose is to make the toll roads free for farmers and residents within a 10 kilometre radius. But at several toll plazas
