Vidya Pratishthan’s English Medium School, CBSE, Baramati, celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda last week. Around 600 students form Class VI to IX were present on the ground for a Suryanamaskar. On January 11, Ganesh P Londhe delivered a lecture for the students of Class VI to IX and explained the ideals, values and ideology of Swami Vivekananda.

On January 12, Prof Rajkumar Kadam from Vidya Pratishthan’s Arts, Science & Commerce College delivered a lecture highlighting Vivekananda’s teachings for Class IX to XII students. In his motivational speech, he inspired the budding talent of the school.

Teacher Bhakti Kadam introduced the chief guest, while Shivani Berad, also a teacher, proposed vote of thanks. Principal N S Kharosekar felicitated the guests. Essay writing and debate competitions based on Vivekananda’s thoughts and philosophy — Power is strength, weakness is death — were also organised.

Cultural programme at Vidya Pratishthan

Vidya Pratishthan’s English Medium School, CBSE, Baramati, celebrated its annual cultural programme on January 9 at ‘Ga Di Ma’ auditorium. The programme had two sessions — pre-primary and primary.

The first session was inaugurated by Jayashree Satav, president, Baramati Municipality, in the presence of guest of honour Vaishali Kokare, vice-president PTA-VPEMS. Satav, in her speech, admired the efforts of the school in all-round development of the students. She believes that the annual cultural programme of school provides a perfect platform for students to showcase their talents. Principal N S Kharosekar spoke about the innovative programme ‘Waves of Change’ launched by CBSE. She felicitated the guests on behalf of the school. All pre-primary and primary cultural events were based on the theme — mythology and cooperation. Students presented various programmes on the theme like ‘Setu bandha re’, ‘Birth of Jesus Christ’ ‘Krishna-Sudama bhet’, ‘Mahishasuracha wadh’ and many more.

All secondary and senior secondary programmes were based on history and cooperation. The evening was studded with a musical drama ‘Yuga ugacha Sakshidar, Bhisnoi Movement-a Drama, Bihu dance, Tabla jugalbandi, Powada and mime show. The programme was inaugurated by Hemant Abhyankar, vice-president, BRACT’s Vishwakarma Group of Institute, Pune. Abhyankar stressed the importance of discipline in life. He also reiterated the fact that regular exercise improves physical and mental strength, stressing on “early to bed and early to rise...”.
