1 in 4 women think Valentine's Day perfect time for men to propose

As Valentine's Day approaches, there are questions plaguing many a nervous boyfriend, as when to pop the question and how do they create the perfect proposal, and when is the right time to do it.

Well, according to a new survey, men should propose after exactly two years of dating, on a deserted beach, on Valentine's Day, the Daily mail reported.

Of the 200 polled, one in four women (22 percent) said this would be their ideal proposal situation and although it might be considered corny by some, this Thursday is still seen as the most appropriate time to ask.

If you really want to ensure that she says yes then you need to include an element of surprise (32 percent), a romantic setting (21 percent) and to get down on one knee (20 percent).

You'll need to ask her father's permission too - as one in ten women said that was a proposal essential.

Just one in ten said having an expensive ring was most important thing and only 30 percent expected the man to choose, with 62 percent opting to select one together.

The research, commissioned by drinks brand Lambrini, found that one in four women thinks a man should be thinking about marriage 24 months into the relationship.

And if you haven't got round to proposing after five years then don't bother as half of all women (49 percent) said they'd dump their other half rather than wait that long.
