Among travellers visiting India, tourists from Hong Kong spent most money on accommodation in the first half of 2013, according to a report. “Travellers from Hong Kong spent most money to stay in India in the first half of 2013. They paid on an average R8,250 in 2013, which is 13% more than the previous year,” according to the Hotel Price Index report by Hotels.com. In the first half of 2012, travellers from Hong Kong had paid an average of R7,328, the report added. The report revealed that out of 28 countries, 15 paid more in the first six months of 2013 against the same period in 2012, that reflected an overall rise of 1% in the country with respect to hotel tariffs. Travellers from Switzerland came in second at R7,321 from R5,786 in 2012, followed by Singapore at R7,164 against R6,931 last year. Belgium recorded the highest increase, up 38% to R6,776 compared to R4,900.
