‘Slow’ Board servers hit online registration of Class X students
Schools may miss Oct 31 deadline, GSHSEB says they need faster Internet connection.
Filling up online registration forms for Class X board examination has become an arduous task for thousands of schools across the state as submitting just one form sometimes takes hours, reportedly due to slow servers of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB).
The board has made it compulsorily for schools to fill online registration forms (on www.gseb.org) of students who will take the March 2013 examination. The schools have been given one month to complete the process, beginning October 1.
But many schools are likely to miss the deadline, as a result of which GSHSEB has said it may extend the last date.
Out of the 12,000-odd schools, so far only 2,600 have managed to submit forms of around a lakh students, said state education board officials. An estimated 10 lakh students are expected to take the board examination in the state next year.
“So far, we have been able to fill forms of just three students out of total 300. Extremely slow servers have made it nearly impossible for us to complete the task by October 31,” said the principal of a leading school in Vadodara, requesting anonymity.
Many other schools have a similar complaint. “We tried filling up forms in the daytime, then at night and even early in the morning. But it does not make any difference as the servers are slow all the time,” said principal of another school.
