Family members of the minor girl who was allegedly raped and then killed by her employer at Dhakauli village, on Friday, alleged the police was going soft in the case. The family members alleged they had received threats from the accused’s family, who were pressurising them to withdraw the case.

“We are receiving threats from the accused who is pressurising us to withdraw the case. The police is doing nothing in the case,” said a family member of the deceased girl.

The victim’s family members sought the police should register a case of murder. Earlier, on September 19, a domestic servant was found dead under mysterious circumstances at the employer —R S Bhatia’s —house.

Police had arrested Bhatia and his son Dilkaran Singh after the duo were booked for abduction under section 365 of IPC and abetment to suicide under section 306 of IPC at the Zirakpur police station. Also, the girl’s relatives had staged a protest at the Dera Bassi civil hospital seeking stringent action against the accused.

The 13-year-old victim, was found dead at Bhatia’s house in Guru Gobind Singh Nagar, Dhakoli. According to police, the medical report did not reveal any injury marks on the deceased’s body.

The police had earlier said the deceased girl’s father had revealed during questioning that his minor girl was working at Bhatia’s residence for the past one and half month. Also, he had said Bhatia informed them that the girl had gone somewhere without informing them.
