‘I will benefit from playing in GPL’
Last year when Chandigarh golfer Harendra Gupta won the Mumbai Open, he not only claimed the biggest win of his career but also pocketed Rs 16 Lakh for winning the title. Thereafter, the 27-year-old golfer was picked up by the Tamil Nadu Pullies for the upcoming Golf Premier League in the auction held in Mumbai last month. Gupta believes that playing in the league will benefit his game. In a chat with Sportline, the golfer talks about his plans for the league, expectations of playing with International players like Angel Cabrera, Asian number one Thaworn Wiratchant and his also about his plans for the Asian Tour.
You were picked up by the Tamil Nadu Pullies for the Golf Premier League, an event which will see eight teams competing in a three-round format. How do you see the event?
Frankly speaking, I have not thought much about it. But we have been practicing individually at our respective cities for the event. I will be reaching Mumbai on Tuesday and I will be playing some rounds before the tournament starts on February 7. The league will see us playing in a three-round format and two rounds will be day/night. It will be a different experience and we will benefit from the format.
The Tamil Nadu Pullies team will see the presence of golfers like Rich Beem of USA and Siddikur Rehman of Bangladesh.
