“We are planning a crackdown on vehicles plying without tamper-proof numberplates,” a Transport official said.
The backlog could scuttle the Transport department’s plan to start fixing HSRPs on old vehicles from January next year. “We want to start the process early next year. It will require bigger centres. Rosmerta has been asked to find a way,” an official said.
“Instructions and the series-wise registration schedule shall be advertised in newspapers,” he said.
