‘27 people support radical elements in Punjab’
Addressing a press conference to highlight that crime rate had come down significantly in the police commissionerates of Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana, Sharma said a dossier of 1,072 people, who were suspected to be criminals, was prepared by the state police after some untoward issues surfaced post Rajoana incident.
Sharma said the dossier contained information about people, who could affect law and order, and create insecurity among people. He added there might be other small-time people, who could be supporting radicals, but 27 of 1,072 were the most active.
Sharma ruled out revival of terrorism at any stage in the state, even as he admitted that foreign funding by radicals settled abroad was an issue of concern and police were keeping an eye on it.
