Have you seen the latest campaign of NPCI – “Chai ke bahaney digital payments ko jaaney”? In fact, in a bid to spread awareness about digital payments through multiple programs, NPCI is setting up chai chowkis in every nook and corner of various cities. Not only this, its ‘Digidhanmela’ initiative is also helping lakhs of people in opening their bank accounts and making cashless payments from person to person and to merchant stores.

Sending and receiving money on the app with just one touch has simplified the process and reduced time in making payments through the BHIM app.

Here are 10 lesser-known features of the BHIM app:

The BHIM app is a fully-advanced app with auto tech mechanism. Still if your phone fails to read the auto-generated OTP, in such a case you can enter the OTP manually. The app is designed in such a way that the process of getting and transferring money becomes more or less error-free while doing any number of transactions in a day.

One of the most interesting features of the BHIM app is that it logs you out automatically after 90 seconds when not in use. This feature secures the misuse of your phone in your absence, in which case anybody can make a fraudulent transaction if you have left your phone somewhere without locking it.

Unlike credit cards, debit cards or any other digital cards, the BHIM app does not require any POS terminal or any swiping machine to transfer money. One similar feature is going to be introduced in Aadhaar Pay.

The app allows you to do transactions on a safe and secure network. Therefore, you do not need to worry about the safety of your multiple banks’ details entered into the BHIM app.

To have the accountability of all your transactions, you will receive a flash message of all the successful or failed transactions on your mobile screen. Also, the services will be given to you via SMS also.

One should know that before the launch and any update of the app, which is done from time to time, it goes through various security controls which are audited by various IT security firms. Currently, the BHIM app is running on a highly-secured network which is certified with the best global practices like PCI, DSS, ISO 27001, etc.

Despite changing your mobile network operator, the BHIM app works without any disruption. This added feature may give you a lot of relief while switching your SIM card from one phone to another.

Unlike other digital payments app, there is no limit on the amount that can be received via the BHIM app.

A highly-secured feature of the BHIM app allows you dso transaction only after setting up a UPI PIN. For setting up this PIN, you need to have the last 6 digit and the expiry date of your debit card ready with you. Thus, the app gets protected by a 3-way locking system. One is phone lock, second your app lock, and the third is your app PIN.
