Income tax return, Income tax return for senior citizens, Do super senior citizens have to file income tax returns, tds, all about income tax returns There is a requirement for individuals to furnish I-T return, if total income exceeds the maximum amount which is not charge-able to income tax.

My father is over 90 years of age and has income from pension, interest on fixed deposits and savings account. His total income is Rs 2 lakh per annum. He has no TDS refund claim. Is he required to file income tax return?

There is a requirement for individuals to furnish I-T return, if total income exceeds the maximum amount which is not charge-able to income tax. An individual qualifying as ordinarily resident also has to furnish return of income if he holds any foreign asset including any financial interest even if income is less than the threshold limit. An individual may need to file his return, if he wants to carry forward a loss or wants to claim a refund of excess taxes paid. In this case, your father being a super senior citizen whose income is below chargeable limit (i.e. Rs 5 lakh) and with no refund to claim, foreign assets or other sources of income (other than pension, FD and savings interest), is not required to file the return.

If you have forgotten your ID and password, you have an option to reset the password using one of the following:

Answer Secret Question.

Upload Digital Signature Certificate (if available)

Using One Time Password (PINs) sent to the registered email id and mobile number

Using Aadhaar OTP—If Aadhaar is linked with PAN, then you could generate OTP to reset the password.

A detailed manual ‘Reset Password – User Manual’ is available on the income tax website with step by step process for each of the above options.

Hi I have a question, my father is senior citizen and have few fds open in his bank account. Is he supposed to pay the tax against the interest, or not and should the interest be added in his pension amount to see the tax liability. Bank is already deducting 10 as TDS, do we need to claim that too, he being senior citizen

My PAN card shows my name in full but my Aadhar card is with initials matching the PAN card. Because of this anomaly, I am unable to link my PAN card with my Aadhar card. I have also lost my mobile which was registered with the I/T Dept. with the result I cannot fill in the Aadhar updation form d without an OTP. However I have sent the appln form for updation to UDAI on 5th July '17 by post. Will I receive a reply or is there another way to synchronize the names on both the cards. Thanks.
