United Breweries (Holdings) shares hit upper circuit on Friday after the trading volume of the company soared by nearly 10 times. Around 7.94 lakh shares of United Breweries (Holdings) exchanged hands on BSE, up 9.80 times, against the 2-week average of 0.81 lakh shares. The sudden rise in total trading quantity indicates some block/ bulk deal during the day. Shares of the company soared 19.97 per cent to Rs 36.95.
The scrip opened the day at Rs 31 and has touched a high and low of Rs 36.95 and Rs 31, respectively, in trade. Benchmark BSE Sensex was trading 350.39, or 1.23 per cent, up at 28763.28 in the noon trade.
In the past one year, shares of the company have risen 41.61 per cent to Rs 30.80 till September 15, whereas BSE Sensex advanced 10.53 per cent during the same period. Shares of the company also hit its fresh 52-week high of Rs 36.95 in today’s trade. The scrip hit its 52-week low of Rs 18.10 on May 30, 2016.
For the year ended March 31, 2015, the company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 32 crore against net loss of Rs 1393.65 crore a year ago.
United Breweries (Holdings)’s business activities include manufacturing, market and export of alcoholic beverages.
