The BSE Sensex closed 40.66 points up at 28412.89, while Nifty 50 index settled 15.95 points up at 8742.55. Unitech shares closed over 5 per cent up post its Q1 result. In the 50-share index, BHEL, ZEEL, Reliance Industries, Maruti Suzuki and ITC gained between 1.58 per cent and 2.71 per cent. On the other hand, YES Bank, Power Grid, Tata Steel, Axis Bank and Bajaj Auto slipped between 1.40 per cent and 2.32 per cent.
2.56 pm: Welspun Enterprises shares were trading 3.67 per cent down at Rs 62.95. Tata Power was trading 0.40 per cent down at Rs 74.95. Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), an arm of Tata Power, has completed 100 per cent share purchase in Welspun Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd (WREPL) and its subsidiaries.
2.35 pm: Benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty continued to trade flat in the afternoon trade on Thursday. Sensex was up 22.69 points at 28394, while Nifty was up 7.45 points at 8,734.
12.31 pm: L&T Technology Services IPO was subscribed 83% on last day of offer till 11 am.
11.48 am: GNA Axles IPO was subscribed 88 per cent on the second day of offer till 11 am.

10.30 am: Sensex was down 14.64 points at 28357. Nifty was down 6 points at 8,720.
10.08 am: MMTC shares were trading 4.63 per cent up at Rs 47.50. The company reported a net loss of Rs 7.01 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2016 as compared to a net loss of Rs 30.55 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Sensex and Nifty were trading on a flat note in the morning trade.
9.43 am: Sensex was trading 39.18 points up at 28,411.41. Nifty was up 10.35 points at 8,736.95. In the 50-share index, Bank of Baroda, YES Bank, Tata Motors DVR, Adani Ports and ACC were up between 2.45 per cent and 4.21 per cent. On the other hand, Bosch, Coal India, ONGC, TCS and Sun Pharma were down between 0.99 per cent and 2.04 per cent.

9.15 am: Sensex opened 26.10 points up at 28398.33, while Nifty opened 17.25 points up at 8743.85. Reliance Communications was trading 3.33 per cent up at Rs 52.75.
Domestic equity markets are likely to open on a weak note on Thursday tracking SGX Nifty and mixed global cues. At 8.43 am (IST), SGX Nifty was trading 20 points down at 8,749. Asian peers, Hang Seng was trading 0.32 per cent higher at 23265 while Nikkei was down by 1.20 per cent in the morning trade.
The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty snapped a two-session losing streak on Wednesday after European stocks recovered from four days of losses in reaction to solid UK labour data and a rise in commodity prices. The 30-share index closed 18.69 points up at 28372, while Nifty settled 11 points up at 8726. Rohit Gadia, founder and CEO, CapitalVia Global Research said, “Nifty in its daily chart has formed a spinning top candlestick pattern. A spinning top generally visible after a strong move and indicates a temporary pause due to the fact that momentum is lacking after the initial move.”
Shares of the Reliance Communications will remain in focus on Thursday as the company and Aircel today has announced the merger of their wireless operations to create a combined entity with assets worth Rs 65,000 crore.
