Top 11 stocks that remained in focus today: NTPC, Mahindra CIE Automotive and more

The benchmark BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty snapped their four day losing streak due to profit-booking by investors. Sensex plummeted 378.61 points to end at 23,410.18, while Nifty50 settled below 7,200-mark by tumbling 125 points to 7,109.55.

Hero MotoCorp: Shares of Hero MotCorp closed 1.69 per cent down at Rs 2660.30 after the two-wheeler maker on Monday said production and dispatches from its four plants in Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand have been impacted due to the ongoing agitation of Jats demanding job reservation.

Kotak Mahindra Bank: Kotak Mahindra Bank shares ended the day 2.92 per cent down at Rs 621.45 after JP Morgan downgraded the stock to ‘neutral’ from ‘overweight’, adjusting valuations after cutting earnings forecasts by 18-24 per cent for FY 2016-18.

Mahindra CIE Automotive: Mahindra CIE Automotive shares hit fresh 52-week low after the company on Monday reported 62.24 per cent fall in its net profit figures to Rs 4.97 crore for the quarter ended December 2015. Mahindra CIE earned Rs 13.16 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago. Share price of the company settled the day 8.32 per cent down at Rs 176.90.

Oil marketing companies: Shares of BPCL (down 3.03 per cent), HPCL (down 4.87 per cent) and IOC (down 4.04 per cent) edged lower amid concerns that government may impose customs duty on crude oil imports in the forthcoming Union Budget 2016-17.

NTPC: Shares of the company closed 2.33 per cent down at Rs 123.90 as government will sell 5 per cent stake in India’s largest power producer NTPC on Tuesday at a floor price of Rs 122 per share to raise Rs 5,029 crore.

Tata Motors (DVR): Share price of company closed 2.19 per cent up at Rs 246.80 after the announcement by the National Stock Exchange (NSE) that shares of Tata Motors (DVR) will be included in Nifty 50 index with effect from April 1.

Cairn India, Punjab National Bank and Vedanta: Stocks of Cairn India, Punjab National Bank and Vedanta slumped 4.40 per cent, 3.90 per cent and 1.69 per cent to end the day at Rs 126.05, Rs 72.70 and Rs 72.85, respectively following reports that they will be dropped from Nifty 50 index and will be replaced by Aurobindo Pharma, Bharti Infratel, Eicher Motors and Tata Motors Ltd (DVR).
