Sensex dips by 71 points, Nifty too ends in red

The Sensex, which opened at 26,304.90 on Thursday, finished at 26,227.62, down by 71.07 or 0.27 percent. . On Wednesday it settled at 5.94 points or 0.02 per cent lower at 26,298.69. On the other hand, Nifty closed at above the 8,100-mark. Investors continue to be in a risk-off mode, taking cues from global markets that were on back foot ahead of Fed Chair Janet Yellen’s testimony on Thursday. As per Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit BNP Paribas Financial Services, the market rebounded as investors used the advantage of a drop in valuation while the selling at higher levels pulled back the market to close flat. Sentiment remained upbeat for most part of the session after lower inflation data increased hopes of a rate cut by RBI next month, but index turned lower duringthe fag-end as profit-booking emerged.

3:34 PM: Sensex closes at 26,227.62, down by 71.07 or 0.27 percent. Nifty finishes the day at 8,079.95, falls 31.65 points or 0.39 percent

2: 37 PM: Sensex at 26,261.75 points, falls to 36.94 points or 0.14 percent. Nifty at 8,096.70 points, falls 14.90 points or 0.18 percent.

1:36 PM: Sensex at 26,303.80 points, up 5.11 or 0.02 percent. Nifty at 8,105.75, dips by 5.85 or 0.07 percent

12:24 PM: Sensex at 26,344.37 points, up 45.68 points or 0.17 percent. Nifty at 11 points or 0.14 points high to be at 8,122.60.

11:53 AM: Sensex at 26,386.92 points up by 88.23 points or 0.34 percent. Nifty at 8,137.05 up by 25.45 or 0.31 percent.

11:16 AM: Sensex up 53.37.27 points or 0.21 percent to reach at 26,352.06. Nifty at 8,123.85, up by 12.25 points or 0.15 percent.

9:38 AM: 26,439.88, up by 41.19 or 0.54 percent. Nifty at 8,139.30, up by 27.70 or 0.34 percent.
