Benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty settled in green on Thursday on account of buying in blue chip counters. Sensex closed 118.92 points up at 29045.28, while Nifty settled 34.55 points up at 8952.50. However, investors remained cautious ahead of the European Central Bank (ECB)’s monetary policy decision later in the global day. Brokerage firm Edelweiss expects ECB to broadly maintain status quo with no change in policy rates as it awaits further evidence on the post-Brexit economy and impact of earlier monetary easing.
3.20 pm: Just Dial on Thursday announced that it has got in-principle approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for launching its prepaid wallet. Shares of the company were trading 2.09 per cent down at Rs 498.50.
3.08 pm: Sensex was trading 140.95 points up at 29067. Nifty was up 41 points at 8,958. In the 50-share index, Bajaj Auto, Tata Steel, Hero MotoCorp, Sun Pharma and Grasim were up between 2.92 per cent and 3.67 per cent. On the other hand, TCS, YES Bank, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies and Wipro were down between 1.87 per cent and 5.40 per cent.
2.39 pm: IRB Infrastructure Developers shares surged over 8 per cent on Thursday after it informed bourses that IRB InvIT Fund, an infrastructure investment trust, has filed draft red herring prospectus with the Sebi for Rs 4,300 crore initial public offering. The Mumbai-based toll road developer said it is the sponsor of IRB InvIT Fund (the Trust), an infrastructure investment trust registered with the Sebi under its (Infrastructure Investment Trusts) Regulations, 2014 (the InvIT Regulations). Sensex was trading nearly 100 points up at 29026. Nifty was trading 28.60 points up at 8,946.

1.26 pm: Shares of drug major Suven Life Sciences jumped over 2.50 per cent after it announced that the company has been granted a patent each by Canada, Europe and Hong Kong for a drug used in the treatment of neuro-degenerative diseases. Sensex was up 48.53 points at 28974.89
12.47 pm: GAIL was trading 1.46 per cent down at Rs 390.70 despite it reported 244.04 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 1335.18 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2016 against Rs 388.09 crore in the same quarter last year. Should you invest?
12.14 pm: Max Financial Services has filed a joint application seeking Competition Commission of India’s (CCI’s) approval for amalgamation of Max Life Insurance Company and Max Financial Services into HDFC Standard Life Insurance Company. In August 2016, the board of HDFC had approved the merger of Max Life and Max Financial Services with its insurance arm HDFC Standard Life Insurance Company (HDFC Life). After completion of this amalgamation, the amalgamated entity is expected to have total premium of about Rs 26,000 crore and assets under management would be over Rs 1 lakh crore. Shares of the company were trading 4.86 per cent up at Rs 607.25

Nifty IT index was trading 2.93 per cent down at 10,192. Other IT majors such as Tech Mahindra, Infosys and HCL Technologies were trading down by 2.47 per cent, 2.31 per cent and 2.18 per cent, respectively.
10.29 am: Shares of ONGC were trading 2.37 per cent up at Rs 250.90. The scrip jumped after the company reported better-than-expected results for the quarter ended June 30, 2016. Read more

9.59 am: Yes Bank has launched a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) issue to raise $1 billion, a move that will help the private sector lender expand while bolstering its capital base. The bank has mandated about 10 investment bankers including Goldman Sachs, Motilal Oswal, CLSA, Edelweiss, Religare, HSBC as lead bankers to the issue. Shares of the lender were trading 2.83 per cent down at Rs 1365.60. Sensex was down 15.99 points at 28910.37.
9.35 am: Aptech, a global education and training company, has forayed into preschool education, through a strategic alliance with Montana International Preschool. Branded Montana International Preschool powered by Aptech (MIPA), the alliance intends to set up 1,000 preschools in India over the next two years. Shares of the company were trading 10 per cent up at Rs 175.05 in the morning trade. Sensex was down 7.38 points at 28911. Nifty was trading 16.95 points down at 8901. Read more

9.19 am: In the 50-share index, GAIL, ONGC, Bharti Infratel, Grasim and Idea Cellular were up between 0.83 per cent and 2.57 per cent. On the other hand, TCS, BHEL, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies and YES Bank were down betwen 2.24 per cent and 5 per cent.
