Benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty ended on a higher note ahead of the Diwali weekend. Sensex closed 25.61 points at 27,941.51, while Nifty settled 22.75 points lower at 8,638.

01.29 pm: Bajaj Auto has posted a net profit of Rs 1122.75 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2016 as compared to Rs 1052.37 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2015. Total Income has increased from Rs 6675.52 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2015 to Rs 6774.34 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2016.

10.20 am: BSE Sensex trades 45 points up at 27,961.64, while Nifty gains 24 points, trading it 8,639.65.
10.09 am: The Tata pack of shares bounced back in early trade after three weak trading days led by Tata Elxsi which rose 2.63 per cent and was trading up Rs 32.85 at Rs 1274.50 at 9.45 am. Among other Tata group shares which rose in early trade was Tata Motors which was up 2.52 per cent or Rs 13.15 and was at Rs 535, Tata Communications up 2.42 per cent at Rs 640.90 showing a gain of Rs 15.96 and Tata Global Beverages which was trading 1.81 per cent up at Rs 140 with a gain of Rs 2.50.

Domestic equity markets are likely to open negative on Friday tracking SGX Nifty and global cues. At 07.50 am, SGX Nifty was trading 35 points, or 0.41 per cent, down at 8615. Asian stocks made a subdued start, with MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan edging down 0.l percent, reflecting Wall Street’s unconvincing performance overnight. Australian stocks fell 0.1 percent while Japan’s Nikkei gained 0.6 percent on a weaker yen. The dollar stood atop three-months highs against the yen on Friday after enhanced prospects of a near-term U.S. interest rate hike prompted a surge in Treasury yields, which also felt a strong pull from a jump in their British and euro zone peers.
On Friday, BSE Sensex gained 79.39 points to close at 27,915.90, while NSE Nifty ended flat at 8,615.25.
Meanwhile,Nestle India, Bajaj Auto and Eicher Motors are likely to be in focus today as they will announce their quarter earnings today.
On Thursday, IOC reported net profit of Rs 3,122 crore for the second quarter of current fiscal, as against a loss a year ago, on account of higher refinery margins and lower inventory losses. Net profit of Rs 3,121.89 crore, or Rs 6.58 per share, in the July-September period compared to a net loss of Rs 450.24 crore in the same period a year ago.
