The BSE Sensex closed 101.90 points, or 0.36 per cent up at 28179.08, while NSE Nifty index settled 15.90 points up at 8708.95. In the Nifty 50 index, Idea Cellular, Wipro, HCL Technologies, Asian Paints and ZEEL slipped between 1.69 per cent and 3.57. On the other hand, ONGC, BPCL, Coal India, Tata Motors and ICICI Bank gained between 2.53 per cent and 4.50 per cent.
3.03 pm: Plywood maker Greenply Industries reported a 28.29 per cent rise in standalone net profit at Rs 35.09 crore for the second quarter ended September 30. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 27.35 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. Shares of GreenPly Industries were trading 2.57 per cent up at Rs 283.
2.37 pm: Adani Power reported net loss of Rs 135.49 crore for the quarter as ended September 30, 2015 compared to a net profit of Rs 188.51 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income has decreased by 1.64 per cent at Rs 3027.96 crore for quarter under review as compared to Rs 3078.34 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2015. Shares of Adani Power were trading 1.81 per cent down at Rs 27.20.
1.52 pm: Petronet LNG Ltd, India’s largest liquefied natural gas importer, is seeking at least 10 per cent cut in price of LNG it plans to buy from Australia’s Gorgon project. Shares of Petronet LNG were trading 0.51 per cent up at Rs 391.20. Sensex was trading 155.60 points up at 28232.78. Nifty was up 41.35 points at 8734.40.
1.44 pm: SKF India reported 20.42 per cent rise in its net profit at Rs 60.26 crore for second quarter ended September 30, 2016 as compared to Rs 50.04 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income of the company increased by 3.21 per cent at Rs 733.78 crore for the quarter under review as compared Rs 668.78 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year. Shares of the company were trading 0.52 per cent up at Rs 1422.05.
1.00 pm: Sensex was trading 107 points up at 28185. Nifty was up by 26.50 points at 8,718. Meanwhile, European markets opened higher on Monday.
12.23 pm: Zuari Global has received an approval for acquisition of entire shareholding of 10,000 equity shares of Rs 10 each of Horizonview Developers (HDPL), a subsidiary of Zuari Investments (ZIL) which was acquired by them on October 04, 2016. The board of directors at its meeting held on October 21, 2016 has approved for the same. Shares of Zuari Global were trading 3.36 per cent up at Rs 118.60.
12.03 pm: Hester Biosciences is reportedly planning to invest nearly Rs 30 crore to set up a large unit for animal health products. The company has already set up one plant in Nepal, which is slated to commence commercial production on November 15, 2016. Shares of Hester Biosciences were trading 1.30 per cent up at Rs 770.

10.44 am: Oberoi Realty has reported 26.71% rise in its net profit at Rs 70.82 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2016 as compared to Rs 55.89 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income of the company increased by 41.04% at Rs 212.04 crore for Q2FY17 as compared Rs 150.34 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year. Shares of the company were trading 2.74 per cent up at Rs 341.

10.02 am: Punj Lloyd’s wholly owned subsidiary – Punj Lloyd Infrastructure (PLIL) has executed definitive agreements with India Infrastructure Fund II (a SEBI registered Category I Alternative Investment Fund represented by its investment manager IDFC Alternatives Limited) to divest three operating solar projects aggregating to 45 MW located in Punjab and Rajasthan subject to customary approvals and other conditions precedent. As per the transaction, PLIL will divest its entire shareholding in its subsidiaries that hold the three projects – PLSPL, PLSUL and PLSL. Shares of Punj Lloyd were trading 2.58 per cent up at Rs 23.85. Sensex was up 35 points at 28,112. Nifty was trading 6.55 points up at 8,699.
9.20 am: Sensex was trading 85.58 points up at 28162.76. Nifty was up 17.80 points at 8,710.85. In the Nifty 50 index, Axis Bank, Hindalco, Ambuja Cement, ACC and Cipla were down between 2.09 per cent and 2.70 per cent. On the other hand, Idea Cellular, Tech Mahindra, Tata Power, HCL Tech and Dr Reddy’s Labs were up between 1.39 per cent and 2.41 per cent.
9.15 am: The BSE Sensex opened 79.41 points, or 0.28 per cent, up at 28,156.59, while NSE Nifty opened 16.80 points up at 8,709.85.
Domestic benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty are likely to open on a flat note on Monday tracking SGX Nifty and global cues. Shares of Wipro and Mindtree will remain in focus today. Market will be steered largely by the ongoing earnings announcements, with big names like HDFC Bank, NTPC, ITC and Maruti Suzuki set to come out with their results this week. Stock markets may also witness some volatility on account of derivatives expiry due on Thursday.
According to the data released by the NSE, the Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net buyer of Rs 360.60 crore in index futures and options segments, as per Friday’s data, October 21, 2016. FIIs were net buyers of index futures to the tune of Rs 23.95 crore and net buyers of index options worth Rs 336.65 crore. In the stock segment, FII’s were net sellers of stock futures worth Rs 267.56 crore, while they sold stock options worth Rs 138.86 crore.
Below are 6 things you should know before market opens on Monday:
1) SGX Nifty was trading 5.50 points up at 8708 in the morning trade, indicating a flat to positive start for domestic equity markets on Monday.
2) Asian peers, Hang Seng and Shanghai were trading higher by 0.12 per cent and 0.66 per cent, respectively, in the morning trade. However, Nikkei was almost flat at 17,185.13.
3) On Friday in Wall Street, the S&P 500 and the Dow were little changed and the Nasdaq advanced as a record day for Microsoft and earnings from McDonald’s helped offset a fall in energy and healthcare shares.
4) In currencies, the dollar index was steady at 98.657, not far from 98.813, its highest since February 3 struck on Friday.
5) Results Today: Adani Power, Axis Bank, Idea Cellular, Bharti Infratel, Rallis India and Thyrocare will announce their financial results for the quarter ended September 30, 2016 on Monday.
6) Shares of Wipro and Mindtree will remain in focus on Monday. Wipro on Friday after market house posted a 7.6 per cent drop in its second-quarter net profit and said it expects revenues in the ongoing quarter to be impacted by a “mixed demand environment”.
Mindtree posted a 37 per cent fall in consolidated net profit at Rs 94.8 crore in the September quarter, hurt by slower ramp-ups and cautious spending by some large clients across verticals.
