The Reserve Bank of India will issue the second tranche of Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGBs) on January 18-22, economic affairs secretary Shaktikanta Das said on Thursday.
“The next issue of gold bonds will be open from 18th January to 22nd January.Video conference with bank CMDs held today,” Das tweeted.
The RBI had launched the first tranche of SGBs in November. The subscription for bonds were only for golds worth 915.95 kg amounting to Rs 246 crore. The government plans to mop up Rs 15,000 crore by March 31 through these bonds as part of it’s market borrowing programme.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on November 5 launched SGBs and other gold schemes to wean away investors away from holding physical gold.
