Viacom18 Consumer Products will be foraying into the quick service restaurant space by introducing the first cafe- FLYP@MTV in partnership with Funbars Hospitality, the master licensee who will conceptualise, develop, execute and operate the cafe’s expansion in the India market. FLYP@MTV will be launched in mid-December 2015 in New Delhi’s Connaught Place. Following the opening of the first cafe in New Delhi, Viacom 18 Consumer Products and Funbars Hospitality plan to open 10 more cafes in the next five years starting with Mumbai and Bengaluru. The New Delhi cafe will be spread across an area of around 10,000 sq ft. The cafe aims at attracting the youth population with its idea, ‘Work. Chill, Play’, the use of technology in the cafe.
Elaborating on the partnership and expansion plans, Saugato Bhowmik, senior vice president, head, consumer products, Viacom 18, said, “MTV has signed a five-year license partnership with Funbars Hospitalty, under which MTV will provide its creative assets. The venture will be owned by Funbars Hospitality. Funbars will pay royalty to Viacom-MTV. For promoting the cafe the company will be deploying their resources, including the network of their television channels.”
Speaking about operations, Viraj Lamba, head of business division and co-promoter, Funbars Hospitality, said, “Funbars will conduct operations. Viacom 18-MTV will be our licensing partner. Operations will be done by us.”
