With summer holidays around the corner, most people are planning to getaway from their busy schedules. Though flights take to places in lesser time, but travelling for summer holidays with family can be enjoyed while touring in trains. With the growing app economy, travellers can now use various apps for a comfortable and convenient travel through train:
Trainman is a year-old app that advises on travel-related decisions by presenting the percentage odds of a wait-listed ticket getting confirmed, by comparing it against a database of historical IRCTC waiting lists. The app tracks the initial and final status of a waitlisted ticket, the number of days between the two, and the date of journey. Trainman also lets travellers ascertain the likelihood of wait-listed tickets getting confirmed by entering PNR number.
TravelKhana is an app which allows travellers to get region specific food at their convenience like Panchhi Plain Dry Petha for Agra Cantonment station, Chainna Mango Barfi on Bhopal Junction, Lassi and Dal Kachori from Sawai Madhopur Junction, Lonavala Chikki and Maganlal Chikki for Pune Junction and many more. Travellers can place their orders on the app. Its service is available at 160 stations and is currently serving 3,000-4,000 meals daily. TravelKhana has recently tied-up with IRCTC for its e-catering service.
Ticket Juggad is an app which helps travellers in case they can’t find direct confirmed ticket on the route. It automatically finds available tickets from station before or after the boarding station with remaining ticket quota. The app then combines all of these to provide the maximum path that can be travelled on a confirmed ticket.
Railyatri provides different services to various train users and claims it can tell with 93 per cent accuracy, the number of times a wait-listed train ticket can be confirmed. It lets travellers check their train’s speed, order food at their seats, book cabs, check availability of seats before a journey and check the railway time-table, among other features.
