In some shocking scenes seen during the Ganesh Visarjan procession by the Rishi Kapoor clan, including his son Ranbir on Thursday, some mediamen were pummelled for daring to get in the way as they tried to get photos and comments from the actors who were on their way to the immersion spot even as heavy rain was falling all around them. Father-son duo have come in for a lot of social media criticism in the wake of the controversy.
According to the allegations, Rishi Kapoor and Ranbir stand accused of actually going as far as to slap mediamen, push and shove them and shout at them on the streets of Chembur, Mumbai. A visibly angry Rishi Kapoor was seen wildly gesticulating during the period as people got in his way. The fact did not go down very well with Rishi as he made his way in the procession.
The entire procession which started around 1.30 pm has so far not led to any complaints being filed, but according to those who were there, Rishi Kapoor was expected to walk around 4 km to the immersion spot and with other celebrities and the common folk on the road during this time too looking to get to the relevant water body for the immersion of idols, there was a massive traffic jam. So, what would normally take 30 minutes, ended up being a 2-3 hour affair.
Needless to say, with celebrities present, a huge crowd itself was drawn to the spot and this made matters worse for all concerned, making tempers flare up as the processions either stopped or were reduced to a crawl.
The actual reason leading to things coming to a boil was when Ranbir Kapoor started playing the cymbals. The photographers immediately got caught in the frenzy of trying to take the best shot and that looked to have not been well received by the father-son duo. Rishi reportedly got angry as the crowd started pushing and showing and he allegedly slapped a cameraman. Ranbir too did the same to a correspondent.
Not just that, some video clips are also showing both Rishi Kapoor and Ranbir actually pushing back the crowd quite violently to create space for themselves. The Kapoors and their bodyguards were all out on the roads and they were all part of the melee. It was fortunate that things did not get any worse as the crowd situation was quite volatile. In fact, allegations go as far as to indicate that Rishi actually also slapped some people in the crowd.
