Amitabh Bachchan has lent his voice to yet another good cause – this time in the service of the Kedarnath shrine, for which he will be seen crooning a song Jai Jai Kedara, which is a devotional song, alongside a number of other singers/celebrities. This is part of a larger project that will see the Uttarakhand government showcase the progress made by the state in getting things back to normal in the wake of the massive tragedy following the 2013 floods that wreaked havoc along the entire stretch of the pilgrimage route which cost thousands of lives and left entire towns and villages devastated. Bachchan and the Bollywood brigade are now looking to give a helping hand to restore old glory of the shrine.
Considering it was such a massive job, the government has been working on a war-footing to bring normalcy and get the flow of tourists started again. Now, with most things in place, to restore the glory days of ‘Baba Kedar’, celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Kailash Kher, Sonu Nigam, Anupam Kher, and Shreya Ghoshal will feature in the song and promote this noble cause.
The song by Amiabh Bachchan and the rest is part of a larger project though. A serial has been shot documenting the tragedy and its aftermath and this too will hit various television channels in due course of time. These measures are expected to restore complete faith among the devotees of Lord Shiva regarding their safety during the pilgrimage and that the time to worry is now over.
Lending his voice to good causes is not anything new for Amitabh Bachchan. In fact, just recently, during the ongoing Ganesh Chaturthi festival, Big B had, on request by the Siddhivinayak Temple, sang another devotional song. This was to be used during the special puja time.
In the Kedarnath serial, many tales of Lord Shiva will be shown, including how ‘Baba’ actually came to the spot and the temple itself got built, all laid it in easily explained medium. However, the song sung by Amitabh is not the only one in the serial. It has as many as 8 others sung by various other celebrities. Clearly, this is a huge help that Bollywood industry is providing to, not just the Kedarnath shrine, but the entire state and people of Uttarakhand.
