A Google doodle dedicated to Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev was unveiled by Internet search giant Google on Monday on his 182nd birth anniversary today.

Born on February 8, 1834, Dmitri Mendeleev is popularly known as the ‘Father of Periodic Table’.

He formulated the Periodic Law, created a farsighted version of the periodic table of elements, and used it to correct the properties of some already discovered elements and also to predict the properties of eight elements yet to be discovered.

Dmitri Mendeleev’s periodic table, published in 1869, correctly organised the 63 known elements based on their atomic mass.

The periodic table was expanded and refined over the years with further discoveries. Its seventh row was finally completed in January — just weeks ahead of Dmitri Mendeleev’s birth anniversary.
