Many fans have questioned Jack’s  death in the final moments of “Titanic” and now Kate Winslet,  who played Rose in the doomed romantic classic, has accepted  that the character should have saved her lover’s life.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Winslet shot to fame after playing  one of the most-loved on screen couples Jack and Rose in the  1997 blockbuster, set against the backdrop of Titanic tragedy.

In the climax as the ship sinks Jack and Rose find a piece  of door floating. Jack helps Rose climb on it but it starts  sinking when he tries to fit himself on it. He then decides to  save Rose’s life by staying in the cold water, which leads to  his death.

The ending has bothered “Titanic” fans for nearly 20 years  with some of them sharing a theory, saying that Jack could  have actually shared the door without it sinking.

When TV host Jimmy Kimmel asked Winslet about the theory,  the actress said, “I agree! I think he could have actually  fitted on that bit of door.”

Such is the lure of the romance that fans go crazy on  social media whenever DiCaprio and Winslet share a frame.

The actors were recently seen hugging each other at the  SAG Awards on Saturday, and their hug that spawned a thousand  “never let go” jokes, reported Entertainment Weekly.

“People are always so excited to see Leo and myself in  the same space, which, you know, at the end of the day, that’s
so lovely, isn’t it?” Winslet told Kimmel.

“It’s been 20 years, and people still get such a kick out  of it. It’s really quite endearing. And we do laugh about it.

We were giggling about it last night. I was like, my god, can  you actually believe that people just get so overwhelmed by  the Jack and Rose thing.”

Apart from “Titanic”, the two stars have worked together  in 2008 domestic drama “Revolutionary Road”.
